Services
Three ways we work
Some families need a review and a plan. Some need an independent voice in a formal role. Some need a senior leader for their office, part of the week. Each is described below.
Advisory
Operations, governance, and tax structure
For families and family offices that have outgrown the way things were set up.
Structures are usually set up for the family as it was, not as it is. A business is sold, children grow up, someone moves abroad, and the entities and agreements that made sense ten years ago start to work against each other.
We review how the family's affairs are organised, explain what we find in plain language, and propose a clearer design. Where a recommendation touches tax or legal questions, we work with the family's attorneys and accountants, who advise on those matters.
The kind of work this includes
- Entity structuring and simplification
- Family governance, including family councils and decision-making frameworks
- Family office operating model design
- Reviewing tax structure alongside the family's tax advisers
Independent roles
Independent trustee and board member
An independent voice where a trust or a family board needs one.
Some decisions are better made with someone in the room who is not a family member and has no product to sell. An independent trustee or board member brings that perspective, along with the discipline of a formal role.
We take these roles seriously and in writing. Before accepting one, we discuss the duties involved, the time it requires, and how we will report to the family.
Roles we take on
- Independent trustee
- Member of a family council or advisory board
Fractional leadership
A CFO or COO for your family office
Senior leadership for a family office, without a full-time hire.
Many family offices need senior judgement more than they need another full-time employee. A fractional leader works with the office part of the week, sets priorities, and builds the processes the office will keep after we step back.
It also suits an office in transition, between leaders or after a liquidity event, that needs steady hands while it decides what comes next.
Roles we fill
- Fractional CFO
- Fractional COO
- Other senior roles for a family office, by arrangement
Not sure which of these fits? Most conversations begin before that is clear.
